When I was a girl my very devout former Catholic nun mother gave me a book entitled "Esther: The Star and the Sceptre" which recounted the Biblical story. It never sat right with me. So this King is basically going to screw like 100 or 500 virgins until he finds a queen. That's depressing. I never got a firm sense of what made Esther so special. It's supposed to be uplifting but it seemed to my young eyes that, like many old testament scripts it descended into tribal, violent stupidity...
Interesting note: I was fired from my city job for calling out all the names associated with power holding positions in the Hollywood movie making industry. They called me anti-semetic on Facebook. FB is so gross. I permanently deactivated two years ago. Now? I am glad to not work for my city as they have fallen to all the most devious narratives that are corrupting children in our public school systems if you know what I mean.
